FAQ

Is the rim´s strength being tested?

The wheels are being tested according to the European norms EN 14766 for mountain bikes and the norms EN 14781 and EN 14764 for racing-, city-, and trekking bicycles. In addition, all wheels are tested on the dynamometer for their requirements.

Is humidity, sludge, snow, or water problematic for the wooden rims?

Such everyday challenges do not harm the wooden rims at all. The reason for this is, on the one hand, the alignment of the wood´s fibres, which develops during the construction and, on the other hand, the laminar structure. The result is a homogenous rim profile which keeps its shape even after direct contact with water. Furthermore, every product´s surface is treated, thus being even better protected from moisture and dirt.

Which types of wood are being used?

Through a variety of types of wood and the different characteristics that come along with them, the ideal wood and combinations can be created, according to any requirement. Besides spruce, ash, and birch, many other types of wood and combinations are being used for our products.

Is there a possibility of being hurt by splinters through the wooden push rings?

Due to the fact that ash wood is being used, there are no splinters and thus no risk of getting injured through the wooden push rings. They are being tested by the TÜV AUSTRIA/GERMANY and are awarded with the certification mark “GS” standing for “tested <for> safety”
